95 Theses studio view

95 Theses reimagines a historic public monument as mobile, modular, and site-specific. Each sculpture is an enlargement of the engraved dash between the birth and death dates on the tombstones of various political, cultural, and poetic figures in the margins of history.

Beginning as one to three inch casts in the field, each is ultimately rendered into a monumental granite floor sculpture three to six feet in length. Initiated in 2013 at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, this series is ongoing. The referenced figures will produce growing dialogues and questions about their relationships—with each other and the nascent histories of future 95 Theses host sites.
